issues that caused its inclusion. Is an optimized GCC build any faster for being able to use strict aliasing rules? I dunno. It's still slower than a VC++ build. I did run into two cases where TAutoSegIterator caused intractable problems with breaking strict aliasing rules, so I removed the templating from it, and the caller is now responsible for casting the probe value from void *. - Removed #include "autosegs.h" from several files that did not need it (in particular, dobject.h when not compiling with VC++). ** The particular scheme used here was chosen because it's small.

** An alternative that will work with any C++ compiler is to use static
** classes to build these lists at run time. Under Visual C++, doing things
** that way can require a lot of extra space, which is why I'm doing things
** this way.
**
** In the case of PClass lists (section creg), I orginally used the
** constructor to do just that, and the code for that still exists if you
** compile with something other than Visual C++ or GCC.
