d86f03e2e0 - reverted most of the last commit after realizing that trying to manage constructing/destructing per variable is not going to work because it'd require some extensive exception management in the compiled VM code.
- instead add a list of SpecialInits to VMScriptFunction so this can be done transparently when setting up and popping the stack frame. The only drawback is that this requires permanent allocation of stack objects for the entire lifetime of a function but this is a relatively small tradeoff for significantly reduced maintenance work throughout.
- removed most #include "vm.h", because nearly all files already pull this in through dobject.h.

b1a83bfd26 - started with cleanup and separation of DECORATE code.
* everything related to scripting is now placed in a subdirectory 'scripting', which itself is separated into DECORATE, ZSCRIPT, the VM and code generation.
 * a few items have been moved to different headers so that the DECORATE parser definitions can mostly be kept local. The only exception at the moment is the flags interface on which 3 source files depend.

082042818b - refactored sector portal data so that it does not rely on actors.
This is necessary because otherwise the level data cannot be serialized before the actors.

b2ccd0bd28 Use action function return value to make state jumps happen
- The A_Jump family of action functions now return the state to jump
to (NULL if no jump is to be taken) instead of jumping directly.
It is the caller's responsibility to handle the jump. This will
make it possible to use their results in if statements and
  do something other than jump.
- DECORATE return statements can now return the result of a function
(but not any random expression--it must be a function call). To
make a jump happen from inside a multi-action block, you must
return the value of an A_Jump function. e.g.:
    { return A_Jump(128, "SomeState"); }
- The VMFunction class now contains its prototype instead of storing
it at a higher level in PFunction. This is so that
FState::CallAction can easily tell if a function returns a state.
- Removed the FxTailable class because with explicit return
  statements, it's not useful anymore.

6adb069506 - rewrote p_local.h so that it doesn't pull in the entire bunch of headers.
This was to resolve some circular dependencies with the portal code.
The most notable changees:

 * FTextureID was moved from textures.h to doomtype.h because it is frequently needed in files that don't want to do anything with actual textures.
 * split off the parts from p_maputl into a separate header.
 * consolidated all blockmap related data into p_blockmap.h
 * split off the polyobject parts into po_man.h

d347415aee - fixed some garbage collection issues with interpolations:
* FInterpolator depended on external references to prevent its content from getting GC'd.
* none of the pointers in the interpolation objects were declared to the GC.

The result of these issues was that changing anything about the life cycle of interpolation objects caused corrupted memory crashes when a level was changed.

6c7788d2ad Make global symbols survive GC runs
- The global symbol table was never marked by the GC, so anything pointed
only by it was fair game to disappear.
- Don't clear the global symbol table during DECORATE parsing. Junk in
there should be considered constant after initialization.

92d54ca0fc - Instead of setting the default skybox in every sector without an explicit skybox set, set it
once in the level struct and then use that for sectors with a NULL skybox. This fixes zpack's
E2M3 so that when it removes its sector stacks, you will get the default skybox in their
place, since stacked sectors and skyboxes use the same pointers in a sector.

aade32a749 - Add PClass::AllClasses to the list of root items for the GC. Failure to do so will cause any
actors with names that conflicted with preceding actors from being freed, even though they
can still be accessed via PClassActor::AllActorClasses, which gets iterated over in a number
of places. (e.g. Zen Dynamics defines a Grenade actor, although there is one in zdoom.pk3 now.
The Zen Dynamics' version would not go in the TypeTable, so it would be collected on map load,
leading to a crash when attempts to access it through AllActorClasses are made.)

080e769c76 - removed all asserts from the interpolation objects' Destroy methods. The condition will not be true after a failed savegame write occured.
- fixed: D_ErrorCleanup must clear 'savegamerestore'.
- fixed: Cleaning up when loading a savegame failed while restoring the thinker list did not work. There were two issues:
  * removed the asserts in GC::SweepList because they get triggered by thinkers that were not fully initialized during loading.
  * AActor::UnlinkFromWorld may not assume that the sector list has been initialized when this function is called.

ee55e0319f - Standardized use of PClassActor::AllActorClasses for iterating over all classes of actors
instead of PClass::m_Types (now PClass::AllClasses).
- Removed ClassIndex from PClass. It was only needed by FArchive, and maps take care of the
  problem just as well.

1eb7912bd8 - Make the autosegs read-only.
- Derive PClass from dobject.cpp. This has one major ramification: Since the PClass
is not allocated until runtime, you cannot initialize any static/global data
structures with pointers to PClasses using RUNTIME_CLASS. Attempting to do so
will just initialize with a NULL pointer. Instead, you can initialize using
the address of the pointer returned by RUNTIME_CLASS and dereference that. By
the time you have an opportunity to dereference it, it will no longer be NULL.

93202a5488 - Removed -fno-strict-aliasing from the GCC flags for ZDoom and fixed the
issues that caused its inclusion. Is an optimized GCC build any faster
for being able to use strict aliasing rules? I dunno. It's still slower
  than a VC++ build.

I did run into two cases where TAutoSegIterator caused intractable problems
with breaking strict aliasing rules, so I removed the templating from it,
and the caller is now responsible for casting the probe value from void *.
- Removed #include "autosegs.h" from several files that did not need it

b77836d4cf - The garbage collector now has an opportunity to step each time individual
thinkers tick, not just once every game tick. This more closely follows
the original Lua behavior. This change was made because, in cases of
extremely large and frequent memory allocations, the collector may not run
fast enough if it only has a chance to execute once per tick.

4e7a6c54ef - Added scaling to double size for idmypos display.
- Changed: Players don't telefrag when they are spawned now but after all
actors have been spawned to avoid accidental voodoo doll telefragging.
- Fixed: ACS scripts for non-existent maps were started on the current one.
- Added a 'wallbouncefactor' property to AActor.
- Reverted forceunderwater change from r1026 and fixed the problem for real:
SECF_FORCEDUNDERWATER only has meaning when coming from the heightsec.

d8166e0e5e - Fixed: MugShotFrame::getTexture() allocated space for the sprite name that

776d89428d - Changed D3DFB to explicitly request double buffering instead of assuming

- Fixed: Unsetting a cvar did not remove it from the list of tab
  completions.
- Added "" as a synonym for "nullimage" in SBARINFO.
- Fixed: MAKESAVESIG's stringifier in version.h did not work as expected.
It stringified the passed macro name, not the value of the macro.
- Moved DCajunMaster off the DObject hierarchy.
- Changed DCajunMaster::getspawned into a TArray of FStrings. It was

8d0c48bf81 - The garbage collector is now run one last time just before exiting the game.
- Removed movie volume from the sound menu and renamed some of the other
options to give the MIDI device name more room to display itself.
- Moved the midi device selection into the main sound menu.
- Added FMOD as MIDI device -1, to replace the MIDI mapper. This is still the
default device. By default, it uses exactly the same DLS instruments as the
Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth. If you have another set DLS level 1 patch set
you want to use, set the snd_midipatchfile cvar to specify where it should
  load the instruments from.
- Changed the ProduceMIDI function to store its output into a TArray<BYTE>.
An overloaded version wraps around it to continue to supply file-writing
  support for external Timidity++ usage.
- Added an FMOD credits banner to comply with their non-commercial license.
- Reimplemented the snd_buffersize cvar for the FMOD Ex sound system. Rather
than a time in ms, this is now the length in samples of the DSP buffer.
Also added the snd_buffercount cvar to offer complete control over the
call to FMOD::System::setDSPBufferSize(). Note that with any snd_samplerate
below about 44kHz, you will need to set snd_buffersize to avoid long
  latencies.
- Reimplemented the snd_output cvar for the FMOD Ex sound system.
- Changed snd_samplerate default to 0. This now means to use the default
  sample rate.
- Made snd_output, snd_output_format, snd_speakermode, snd_resampler, and
  snd_hrtf available through the menu.
- Split the HRTF effect selection into its own cvar: snd_hrtf.
- Removed 96000 Hz option from the menu. It's still available through the
  cvar, if desired.
- Fixed: If Windows sound init failed, retry with DirectSound. (Apparently,
WASAPI doesn't work with more than two speakers and PCM-Float output at the
  same time.)
- Fixed: Area sounds only played from the front speakers once you got within
  the 2D panning area.

ce811319a7 - Fixed: If an object is flagged for euthanization while it's in the gray
list, it should just be ignored during the propagation stage.
- After sleeping on it and realizing what was really going in, I generalized
the inventory fix from the 13th: The actor is flagged by Destroy(), then it
is later inserted into the thinker list by DThinker::SerializeAll(). So
rather than unlinking the skipped player from their inventory, just make
sure any flagged thinkers aren't inserted into a list.
- Fixed: FCanvasTextureInfo::Viewpoint needed a read barrier, and the whole
list should serve as a root.
- Reimplemented SPC playback as a custom codec for FMOD.
- Removed spc_frequency, because snes_spc only supports the SPC's native
