5e975ac9f6 - extended $mididevice to add an optional parameter, which has the following meaning for the different MIDI devices:
* OPL: specify the core to use for playing this song
* FluidSynth: specify a soundfont that should be used for playing the song.
* WildMidi: specify a config file that should be used for playing the song.
* Timidity++: specify an executable that should be used for playing the song. At least under Windows this allows using Timidity++ with different configs if the executable and each single config are placed in different directories.
* GUS: currently not operational, but should later also specify the config. This will need some work, because right now this is initialized only when the sound system is initialized.
* all other: no function.

These options should mainly be for end users who want to fine-tune how to play the music.

e9075334a3 new opl3 emulator 2014-11-23 00:36:22 +09:00

e59d7bc8b8 - Since we have two OPL cores now, what's one more? Added a straight, (highly) unoptimized port
of the Java OPL3 emulator.

8670d6e4f4 - The raw OPL music player no longer checks against the chip count for writing to the second
OPL2; OPLwriteReg() will now do nothing when called to act on a chip that doesn't exist. This
is so that it can use the second half of a single OPL3.

b513931473 - Move panning volume calculation out of the OPL chips and into the player.

3ec387ac32 - Renamed opl_stereo to opl_fullpan, since DOSBox's core is emulating an OPL3, which is stereo
but only supports three pan positions and not the full 127 MIDI pan positions.
- Added opl_core cvar to select emulator core. 0 is MAME and 1 is DOSBox.
- Added DOSBox's LGPL OPL core, distantly related to one adlibemu.c written by Ken Silverman
(not to be confused with the ancient MAME-derived and GPL-licensed core also found in DOSBox).
I believe this corresponds to their "compat" emulator, but I'm not sure.

12ee3271c4 - Replaced the opl_onechip cvar with opl_numchips. You can now emulate up to 8 of them for MIDI
playback. (Raw OPL playback will still clamp it to 2, since there's no use for more than that
with any of the raw OPL formats.)

1640f841e8 - More culling from fmopl.cpp; make the rate parameters constants since it sounds bad with anything but the real clock rate.

3b0ad55285 - Since our OPL chips are emulated, we can give them a feature that real OPL2 chips lacked:
Full stereo panning for the MIDI player. (The raw OPL players are unaffected.) To get the
mono output back, you can set opl_stereo to false.
- Changed SoftSynthMIDIDevice::OpenStream() to allocate the same number of samples for stereo
  and mono streams.

eb47f4fdbf - Fixed: With opl_onechip set the second OPL chip was never set to anything valid
so it contained an invalid pointer. There were also a few other places that
simply assumed that the second chip is set to something valid.
- Fixed: NPCs which are engaged in a conversation should not move.
- Fixed: Player movement animation was not stopped when starting a conversation.

7f35a95942 - Restored the rhythm section to fmopl.cpp and made some slight updates from
version 0.72 of MAME's fmopl.c. Also refactored CalcVoice so that the
original MAME structure is more visible.

3a5afd1418 - Added support for dumping from RAW/DRO/IMF files, so now anything that
can be played as OPL can also be dumped.
- Removed the opl_enable cvar, since OPL playback is now selectable as just
  another MIDI device.
- Added support for DRO playback and dual-chip RAW playback.
- Removed MUS support from OPLMUSSong, since using the OPLMIDIDevice with
MUSSong2 works just as well. There are still lots of leftover bits in
the class that should probably be removed at some point, too.
- Added dual-chip dumping support for the RAW format.
- Added DosBox Raw OPL (.DRO) dumping support. For whatever reason,
in_adlib calculates the song length for this format wrong, even though
the exact length is stored right in the header. (But in_adlib seems buggy
in general; too bad it's the only Windows version of Adplug that seems to
  exist.)
- Rewrote the OPL dumper to work with MIDI as well as MUS.
